It's a Boy

Good Morning
Its the beginning of a new week and I hope you have a great one.

I have been happily playing with the Carta Bella collection It's a Boy which can be found in the Shop, some of this collection is on sale. I create a layout and some cards. One of the things I loved about this collection is the colour combination, I could have kept creating with it.

I think this has to be the least amount of mixed media that I have ever used on a layout.

Here is a close up for you

When I saw the papers so many ideas started to crowd my head so after the layout I got to work on three different cards

I think I took fussy cutting to the extreme on this card, cutting out those tiny romper suits, at least the shape was reasonably friendly.

Out of the three cards this one is my favourite.

Let's Party withTamara Buckler

Hello again everyone,

Today I'm here to share with you a layout and some cards I made with the Simple Stories 'Let's Party' collection.

Now, I'm not generally someone who loves themed papers, but the colours and the quirky, vintage feel of this range made it a breeze to work with. And lets be honest, who doesn't have hundreds of birthday party photos in the pile!

I started off with a layout using the 'hip hip hooray' paper from the collection kit. With the cute little flag buntings, I thought it would be a really fun background. I lightly spread some Gesso to give a less busy landing place for my elements, and went from there.

I adhered the number stickers from the collection kit horizontally on the page to balance out the height of my picture, which I layered with other papers from the collection kit, and then built my title and cluster on top of that.

The main cluster is contained within one of the super cute chipboard frames, and contains some of the stickers, and wood veneers from the range, as well as some other pretties from my stash.

My daughter had a birthday party to go to the weekend I was playing with this range so I also cracked out a couple of cute cards while I was at it. This range lends itself very easily to card making, and these came together in a matter of minutes.

Needless to say, the cow card was the clear winner on the day, apparently my daughters friend thought it was hilarious!

Here are the products that I used, and links to the shop

Thanks for stopping by today! See you again next time.

Big Loves, Tam x

'Dreams' and 'Happiness' by Sarah Rosse

Hello Shop and Croppers, Sarah here with two layouts using more of the Kaisercraft Indigo Skies Collection. This first layout I have called 'Dreams' - it pictures my oldest son in three of our favorite outfits when he was younger. The layout however highlights some key messages that I'd like him to take on his life journey. This collection is in the April Kaisercraft kit which can be purchased in store by clicking here. This can be purchased as part of a kit subscription or as a once off purchase.

The base of this layout uses the Indigo Skies 'Misty' patterned paper. I have used a stencil from my stash with Dylusions 'After Midnight' paint and Brushos to create the background. Brusho Crystal Colours are amazingly versatile watercolor ink crystals that can be used in a myriad of different ways. Sprinkle them directly on a wet substrate and watch intriguing organic patterns appear almost like magic. Or sprinkle Brusho Colours on a wet brush, painting knife, or texture tool to create a variety of gorgeous effects. Another alternative to this is the Ken Oliver Colour Burst powders or the new Lindy's Stamp Gang magical shakers.

The frames on the layout are from the Indigo Skies emphemera pack and the sentiments are from the Indigo Skies sticker sheet. Lets take a close look at the sentiments and the lovely colour on the page.
For the second layout today, I have called this 'Happiness'. I love this photo of my youngest son sitting and watching his dad work on his beloved car. The 'love' reference in this layout however is directed at the love my husband has for his car. Whilst he made the decision recently to sell it, it was a special car that meant so much for many reasons.
Again, this layout used the Indigo Skies patterned paper 'Blue Moon' as the base. I smeared some white gesso to tone down the background. I applied some Brusho (I cant help myself!) and some splatters of the same Dylusions paint in 'After Midnight'. Following on from the first layout, I had turned the wet stencil over onto another piece of paper to make a print - makes the perfect connection between the two layouts. The photo was layered on patterned paper from the Indigo Skies Collection - just love the denim look paper! The title thickers are from the We R Memory Keepers High Five collection, available instore now! Lets take a closer look...

'Happy' by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn up on the blog today with a feminine mixed media layout featuring a gorgeous gold foiled vellum from Pink Fresh Studio from the Felicity Collection.

The background was created using the vibrant Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts in Lollipop and Lush and a smidgen of background stamping.

I used a cut file which i glued to my vellum and then i fussy cut around the cut file, because the vellum is slightly see -through it creates a pretty window effect.

Here are some close ups of the details -

Tip - Use those old punches you have hanging around in a modern creative way!!

Sneak Peek - My next blog post features a resist embossing technique with water colours, simple and effective technique.
