BEACH BABE - August Crop Kit & Creating layers.

Hello there,
Here we are in September, which is Spring! A season I love, a season of color!! And speaking of color I have been creating with a fabulous Kit the AUGUST CROP KIT which can be purchased as a one off kit, which is overflowing with colorful papers and embellishments, perfect for summery layouts!

With the layout I would also like to share the steps I took to create it. I used a 10cm by 15cm landscape photo.
Things I have used that are not in the Kit were a black marker, some old cardboard or foam tape for dimension and  Dina Wakley Media Scribble Sticks which you can find in the store HERE!!!

I took the white cardstock from the Kit and this was  my back ground page.  I took the pink crayon from the Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks and I literally scribbled all over the plastic bag that the kit came in and then sprayed this with water. I took my white cardstock and dabbed it on the water color on the plastic until I was happy with the shade of pink on my back ground..  Sometimes repeating this step is necessary to get the depth of color that I am after. I let this dry naturally.
I cut a frame from Item #2839 Summer Fun, 3cms on the sides and 4cms on the top and bottom. I placed this frame on my back ground page using the yellow side. I cut a circle from Item#2840 Boardwalk using a circle template, but a small dinner plate works well too.
I then cut strips of paper to layer under my photo which was going in the middle of the circle in the middle of the page.
From Item#2839 I cut a piece 22cms by 6cms, from Item #2837 Feeling Good I cut a strip 18cms by 6cms, from Item #2837 20cms by 6cms and cut a fish tail banner on one end of each of these, ( an upside down V)
Cut a 10cms by 12cms piece of paper from Item2839. I used a black marker to edge each piece of paper.
I adhered the circle in the middle of my page, then the strips of paper overlapping slightly the longest piece of paper on the right going to the shortest piece to the left. Place the yellow piece of paper on the left of the strips under the photo. Then I used the tags and embellishments from the kit around my photo and the fabulous Thickers for my title..

Some closer views.

Beach Babe!

I remember the first time I took my daughter to the beach, she was so unsure of the waves, but once she got used to it, she loved the beach, and digging in the sand was a favorite thing to do!

I also created a fun card with some leftovers!!
Such a fabulous Kit and with summer just around the corner, pop over to the shop for your kit HERE!!!

Just before I finish this post I would like to share with you a technique I use a lot on my layouts, and that is layers.. I love to add layers, it adds dimension and interest to my pages. And it is a great way to use scraps of paper as these can be tucked under your photo for example to add to the visual effect of your page.
I have used papers from Cocoa Vanilla - Wild at Heart and you can see all the wonderful Cocoa Vanilla products in the Shop and Crop Scrapbooking Store HERE!!!!

This is what my desk looks like when I am putting a design together... (please excuse the dirty craft mat!!0
I use strips of paper that I layer over each other.  With all the Kits from the Shop and Crop Scrapbooking store you dont have to worry about whether things will match, the Kits are put together so all that worry is gone. The papers are going to either contrast or compliment each other..

After I have the design roughly put together then I adhere it to my page, and once my photo is put down I add things like fussy cut elements, flair and tags.

And here are some closer views..

I have layered some frames and stickers and papers.. The Butterflies were fussy cut from the papers.

The layers on the tag with die cuts and a flair tucked in just under the tag..

And my layout... Hello Gorgeous!!
A good thing to remember when designing your layout is to leave white space, or parts of your layout that have no embellishing, as this gives the eye a rest especially if there are busy or heavily embellished places on the page. I hope you have been inspired to use some layers on your layouts, I am sure you will find it becomes a favorite way to scrap too..

Thanks for coming by and make sure you check out whats new in the SHOP AND CROP SCRAPBOOKING STORE HERE!!!

Until next time... Happy creating!

Having fun with Millie and June

Hello and happy Saturday!

I'm back again today to show you some fun layouts I put together with the Fancy Pants Millie and June collection. I seriously love this collection, it's so pretty and fun, the papers are very textured and thick, and there's lots of gold foil. The whole collection celebrates friends, sisters, Mums and Grandmas, it's seriously dreamy!

This page of my adorable daughter came together so easily! This stripy paper just screamed to me 'beach', and the angled design on the paper just had to be used as a triangle.

After that it was just a matter of layering my photo on a few more bits of the patterned paper, pop it up on some foam, and then add in a couple of embellishments. How gorgeous is the texture in the paper!

I added the 'adorable' from the Crate Paper Cute Girl puffy thickers and then the layout was done!

My second layout is a bit more lux, with lots of gold foil going on! Again, lots of paper layers from the Millie and June collection, with all their gorgeous texture, and this time LOTS of gorgeous embellishments!

How cute is that little poodle tag! And those little bows, they are DIY!

The little lady is from a old Crate Paper 'Open Book' chipboard sheet. Don't you love how sometimes it's just the right time to use up those embellishments you've been hoarding!

Honestly I don't think there's such a thing as too much gold foil!

Hope you've enjoyed checking out my layouts, and make sure you grab some of the 'Millie and June' goodies before they run out!

Big Loves,
Tamara

Summer Layout With Anita Bownds

Hi there,
Anita here with you today sharing another layout this week I've gone with a summer theme
Using the colours blue, pink and yellow

I started with white cardstock and trimmed half an inch off 2 sides and backed it with
Blue patterned paper

And machine stitched around the border
Then using some colour blast colour shimmer spray and colour spray I flicked it across the page

Then let it dry before adding my paper layers
And using one of my cut files I added the pink behind the cutfile and popping a blue flower in the centre of it with some cotton threads

you can find my cutfile set here

I used a tab to add the words just us girls
And under that I put my title summer

And I also added a few little stars from the alpha sheet with the flicked colour spray to add
More points of colour

I tucked in a little tag adding a little more colour to the top of the photo

Sailor Girl layout with Anita Bownds

Hi there,
Happy Wednesday Anita here with you today
sharing a layout using life is beautiful by fancy pants designs
I must say I really am enjoying playing with this collection as a rule I don't really play with black
but something about bright Colours with it has just got me hooked lately ..
I started with a photo of my daughter Kara dressed in her navy uniform
And the black and white stripes just spoke to me and I had to use it

Along with the floral patterned paper and I decided that yellow black and pink would be my Colours
That I was going to use and I wanted to add my floral cutfile in some way on the layout

you can find my cutfile here

As I wanted the photo to be the focal point of the layout I cut the silhouette cut in half
And add to each side tucking them under the photo layers

I wanted to add a few more followers across the page with rhinestones centers

And to break up the white with little flicks of black using colour blast road base colour spray

And adding another pop of colour with the fancy pants designs alphas

I hope you have enjoyed my layout inspiration this week

I added machine stitching around the edge

I added the green patterned paper behind for the leaves
I fussy cut heaps of flowers out and popped them on pop dots

After added all the leaves I used double sided foam tape and popped it up
Away from the cardstock and did the same to the flowers

Here is my cut file I used for this layout

You can find it here

I layered the flowers in a bunch

And layered patterned paper and a bit of vellum that I die cut with a doily die
