A Challenge and a Christmas Card or Two........

Hello there!

Wow can you believe we are into December already!!  So in saying that I have a few more Christmas projects to share with you following on from my last post in November!  I showcased the September Kaisercraft Kit in my last post and have a few more projects to show also using this gorgeous kit featuring Kaisercraft's  Santa's List collection!

First up is my creation for our December Challenge "Show us your Christmas Craft".  I decided on a BTP project for this challenge and altered one of Kaisercraft's Wooden Santa Sleigh's......

I started by painting one side and the edges of the pieces with green paint.  Once dry I picked the papers I wanted on the sides and ends and adhered them down and then sanded the edges.  I then stuck the sleigh together and started the fun bit - DECORATING....

I used some of the pictures from the pull apart specialty sheet, collectables from the kit and then flowers from my stash!  I also added some of the Kaisercraft Wooden Lucky Dip pieces from the Christmas ranges and left them raw.  To finish I sleigh I used some texture paste with glitter added to it, to make the sleigh look like it had snow on it!

Some close ups.......

Next up I have a few cards to share that I made using lots of the left over scraps, some collectables from the kit,  flowers and Kaiser lucky dip wooden flourishes from my stash........ Oh and some Kaisercraft bling, can't forget the bling :)

A couple of close ups.....

A couple of close ups.....

Just a couple more close ups.....

Well that's all from me today.......Be sure to jump over to the Shop and Crop store and check out the amazing kits and products, new kits and fabulous products every month, you won't be disappointed..........
Also don't forget our current challenge "Show us your Christmas Craft" would love to see what you create.

November Kaiser Craft kit- Summer Splash

Hi there!

We are now officially in Summer! That means trips to the beach photos and summer scrapbook pages.
November saw the Kaisercraft kit (follow the link to get your hands on one!) chokers of summer inspo with the Summer Splash range.
After i completed my layouts for the kit i still had tons left over, plus so many more ideas.

Here are 2 layouts i have created using leftovers from the kit
I made them mixed media adding lots of ink splats and stamping  to build the the backgrounds.

As the kraft cardstock is so porous i used a coat of Gesso under where i want the ink splats to be.
I then splattered ink and added layers and embellishments

Well thats it from me today! Please share what  you have done with this kit on our facebook pages!

Making the most out of your supplies

Hello crafty friends,

Donna here, sharing some more ideas for getting the most out of your Christmas supplies. Once Christmas is over, it's good to be able to use up lots of the paper that you have in your stash.
First though, I have a Christmas card to share with you, using the gorgeous papers from the November card kit. Don't forget to share your own Christmas crafts in our December challenge to win a voucher from Shop and Crop. I cut triangles from the different papers and offset them to look like a forest. The Merry Christmas sticker also comes from the kit.

Next, I have used the papers from the same kit to create some decidedly non-Christmas cards and tags. I have used a die from Altenew to cut the roses and have mixed in lots of papers from the Crate Paper Falala collection, which is our November card kit. Have you seen the new card kits? Very exciting!
I have included some closeups so you can see the detail on the papers.

Until next time, have a super week, and I hope this has inspired you to keep creating!
Blessings,
Donna

Little Lindy Try-Me Kit

Hello

Today I want to share with you a canvas tutorial and how I used Little Lindy Try-Me Kit from Lindy's Stamp Gang. Included in the pack was a Magical - tiffanylou's blu, 2 starbursts - crème brulee cream and tiffanylou blue and a moon shadow mist - van dyke sepia. Lindy's products have to been one of my favourite things to use. Just a tip to remember, they are water reactive so what every wet substance you use over the top of them it will react with the lindy's product.

This is what I created

I started off with a canvas that I found in my stash, the dimensions are 15.5 x 15.5 cm by 3.5 cm in height. Then using gesso I put a really, really thick layer of it all over my canvas (including the sides). This layer is not smooth by any means. I love texture and I was getting texture even if it took days to dry. Before it did dry I found some thread, not actually sure what it was, again just in my stash and wrapped it around and around and around my canvas in all directions, make sure that I pulled it tight so it was embedded into the gesso. The thread was not going anywhere but once the gesso was dry I tied off the two ends. To incorporate the thread a little bit more I put more gesso over the string so that it didn't look like it was just sitting there.

Here is a close up view

I have to admit this canvas has been sitting on my desk in this unfinished state since January. Yes you read that right. Way back in January I had this great idea of creating a canvas this way, so I did. Then it just didn't work the way I wanted it too. It wasn't until I got my design team package from Kylie and I saw what was in it that a new idea started to form and one that I knew was going to work.

The next step in creating the canvas was adding the colour

This close up shows the shimmer, it looks so different from above but this was sitting in full sunlight streaming through my window This gold shimmer came from the crème burlee cream so pretty.

I decided that I had lost some of the dimension and I needed to get that back. With my palette knife I added white gesso to the top of the thread adding dimension and contrast.

Finally I am happy with the canvas now I needed to work on the embellishments. I am using chipboard that was in my design team package and I decided to heat emboss it. When I am heat embossing chipboard I always do the process twice because it give a much nicer finish, the photos below show the difference between one coat (first photo) and two coats (second photo)

I glued the chipboard to my canvas and added the little quote down the bottom and it was finished.

Products used from the Shop:
Dusty Attic Chipboard - foliage #5

Happy Creating
