One design, two ways - By Tamara Buckler

Hi All,

As we watch all the new product releases coming out from Creativation, I am on a bit of a kick to use more of what I have to make room for more new products. I guess you could call it a stash bust! I love working with different ranges, and making them come together. And I also love scrapping in different sizes, and this is what I am here to share with you today - taking one layout design and making it work for two different size layouts.

The first layout that I am sharing with you is a traditional 12x12 using the Kaisercraft Christmas range called 'Mint Wishes' and the We 'R' Memory Keepers 'High Five' collection. The design is based around this diagonal line between the two papers and I love the contrast between them.

The floral elements are fussy cut from the Kaisercraft range, and do a great job of softening the lines between the two papers. Quite a few of the embellishments on this page are from Cocoa Vanilla, including the large frame tucked behind the right of the photo.

Most of the alphas used are also from Cocoa Vanilla, combining stickers with Die Cuts is a great way to use up bits and pieces while adding extra interest.

The second page I'm sharing with you today is a 8.5 x 11 page and is using the same basic design element as the first page, in that it has the diagonal line and contrasting papers. The papers used here are from Maggie Holmes 'Chasing Dreams' and Cocoa Vanilla 'Wild at Heart' collections.

I have used a number of Die Cuts from Cocoa Vanilla to again soften the line between the two papers, this time the scale of the embellishments are a little smaller to suit the smaller page size. The frame behind the photo is also from Cocoa Vanilla, and I have DIY'd a frame from some Pink Fresh Studio paper that I have been hoarding (the little birds are also fussy cut from this paper). These frames are flat, rather than the thicker frame on the first layout, so as to not add too much weight to the page.

Again I mixed the alphas for interest and used up some puffy stickers in my stash. I added in some old chipboard from my stash also.

I love the way these layouts turned out, and I hope I have shown how you can use one design, two ways.

Have a great day, scrappy friends!

Live Happy and You Make my Heart Sing

Hi there!

Tania with you today to share a couple of projects with you that I created as part of my DT work for August!  I was super excited when I received my new DT box of goodies in the post, jam packed, where to start lol!  First up I have a layout to share with you and a little photo tutorial on how I created my Mixed Media background.  The paper collection I have used is from Pink Paislee "Take me Away".

Here's the finished page....

Some close ups of the finished layout.....

First up I mounted my patterned paper on some white cardstock just making it a bit thicker for when I apply the mixed media products.  I used the Kaiser Brick stencil and randomly applied texture paste over the page.

I then used the Colour Blast Lollipop and Duke Shimmer Dust and sprinkled them over the page (I use a palette knife to distribute the dust as when I tried to just tap the dust out it didn't end well, I had the whole pot on my page lol, this way I have total control over the amount  I put on the page!!  I did this until I was happy with the amount, you can always add more later.

Next up I spritzed the page with water to activate the colours, aren't they gorgeous colours together? I love them!  I added a little more of each colour as it wasn't quite enough.....

I wanted my flowers to match in with the background, so I added some powder and water together.

and then painted this on my flowers with a brush and voila.......  gorgeous bright flowers, such a quick and easy way to alter the colours of your flowers if you don''t have the right colour!

Once dry ( I have dried off each layer and the flowers with a heat tool)  I decided to add a little bit of sparkle, the Colour Blast Bling texture paste was just perfect!

I then used some more of the Pink Paislee papers to add some layers under my photo.........

I finished off the page with some American crafts Good Life Stickers and the flowers I coloured were from my stash!

My second page to share with you is my take on this months challenge.......  I used Frames, Stencil and Glitter and between you and me I am still finding glitter, absolutely love it, but it seems to take forever to get rid of lol!

I used the gorgeous Cocoa Vanilla "Wild at Heart" Collection for this page, one of my favourites!

Some close ups.....

Well that's all from me today, I do hope you have found some inspiration from my projects today.  Be sure to pop over to the Shop and Crop store and check out all the fabulous products for sale...... and remember to use the code TR5 to get $5 off your order.  Until next time

Best Friends and Darling Girls

Hello, scrappy friends!

By the time this blog post goes live, I will be comfortably ensconced at Scrap Camp with about 60 other scrappy ladies! 4 days of no kids, no cooking and all the scrappy time I desire! Sounds like heaven on earth to me!

But first, I need to share with you a little bit of random fun I've been having lately. Sometimes its just so worth digging back into some of your old collections/kits, just to see what you can create from the leftovers, or with some new random bits mixed in. The 2 layouts I'm sharing today have come from doing just that!

For my first layout I pulled out all of my leftover bits from Crate Paper's Cute Girl collection, and went to town using up all the chipboard and puffy stickers I had left over.

My daughter is obsessed with unicorns all of a sudden, so this giant unicorn embellishment was perfect!

I love the embellishment clusters on this page, and how even though there is a lot going on, it doesn't seem to busy. I'm also super in love with this title, how good is mixing fonts, so fun!

The second layout I have to share with you is using up my stash of Cocoa Vanilla 'Wild at Heart', this range is such a dream to work with! I actually got all adventurous with this layout and machine sewed directly on to my page for the first time ever! Super proud of myself..

It was so fun and easy to layer up these beautiful papers. I love the chipboard frames that came with this collection, so great to make a focal point of your pics.

I've used quite a lot of the die cut ephemera on this page, but again, I don't think this looks cluttered or too busy at all. I included some random wood veneers around the page to anchor the frame with the rest of the elements on the page. The title again is a mixture of Thickers, some old and some new, and I love the way this ties all the colours and elements of the page in together.

And see, look at that stitching! I think I've reached level #expert! Hehe, I may just have a new addiction.

Thanks for stopping by, and I look forward to sharing with you more of my scrappy fun after camp this weekend!!

Big Loves,
Tam x

Be Your Own Kind of Beauitful

Hello,
Its Deena with you today.

I am sharing a trio of cards that I created using the Wild at Heart range from Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

The first step of creating my cards was cutting three ATC (3 1/2 inch x 2 1/2 inch) size pieces of cardstock. Next I covered them with a thin layer of gesso, I didn't want to cover up the back just knock back the colour a little

To add some texture to the paper I used a stencil and crackle paste through the stencil.

To bring the crackle paste to life and add another layer of mixed media to my cards I used my magicals

Then using the dies cuts, sticker sheet and fussy cutting from the card stock I created my cards.

Products available to purchase from the Shop
