Sand Between Your Toes

Hello Everyone

I only have one more sleep and then my two children are back at school, so today I thought I would share a layout with a photo of my then little man. In the photo I think he is about two and tomorrow he is going off to grade three. Not really sure how that happened.

For this layout I used the January 2018 Crop kit. The paper within the kit is Summer Breeze by Penelope Dee. I had never used or even see this paper so glad that I got the chance to use it.

Here are some close ups

We call my little man Mr Serious and this photo is a perfect example of him playing but with that look of complete concentration on his face. He still has that look today.

Don't forget to visit the store and if you make a purchase please use the code DO5 for $5 off your purchase.

Happy Creating

One design, two ways - By Tamara Buckler

Hi All,

As we watch all the new product releases coming out from Creativation, I am on a bit of a kick to use more of what I have to make room for more new products. I guess you could call it a stash bust! I love working with different ranges, and making them come together. And I also love scrapping in different sizes, and this is what I am here to share with you today - taking one layout design and making it work for two different size layouts.

The first layout that I am sharing with you is a traditional 12x12 using the Kaisercraft Christmas range called 'Mint Wishes' and the We 'R' Memory Keepers 'High Five' collection. The design is based around this diagonal line between the two papers and I love the contrast between them.

The floral elements are fussy cut from the Kaisercraft range, and do a great job of softening the lines between the two papers. Quite a few of the embellishments on this page are from Cocoa Vanilla, including the large frame tucked behind the right of the photo.

Most of the alphas used are also from Cocoa Vanilla, combining stickers with Die Cuts is a great way to use up bits and pieces while adding extra interest.

The second page I'm sharing with you today is a 8.5 x 11 page and is using the same basic design element as the first page, in that it has the diagonal line and contrasting papers. The papers used here are from Maggie Holmes 'Chasing Dreams' and Cocoa Vanilla 'Wild at Heart' collections.

I have used a number of Die Cuts from Cocoa Vanilla to again soften the line between the two papers, this time the scale of the embellishments are a little smaller to suit the smaller page size. The frame behind the photo is also from Cocoa Vanilla, and I have DIY'd a frame from some Pink Fresh Studio paper that I have been hoarding (the little birds are also fussy cut from this paper). These frames are flat, rather than the thicker frame on the first layout, so as to not add too much weight to the page.

Again I mixed the alphas for interest and used up some puffy stickers in my stash. I added in some old chipboard from my stash also.

I love the way these layouts turned out, and I hope I have shown how you can use one design, two ways.

Have a great day, scrappy friends!

I {heart} Maggie Holmes Carousel by Tamara Buckler

Hi there scrappy friends,

Tamara here today to share with you my last couple of layouts for 2017! Gosh, this year has flown by! I'm not sure if you managed to get your hands on the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Carousel Collection Bundle when Kylie had it in the shop, but I did and I am in love!! This collection is so fun and playful, and the colours are divine!

The first layout that I am sharing today is just a silly photo of my unicorn-loving Little Miss. The background paper is from the Carousel paper pad, and I applied some Gesso to this using a store card. Once this was dry I added some Dylusions paints in Vibrant Turquoise and Rose Quartz using the packaging technique and lots of water.

I layered up some other papers from the paper pad behind my photo, and then built my clusters to the left and right. On the right hand side I used a heap of tags, frames and tickets from the ephemera to create some layers, and used the 'delightful day' banner as a resting place for the enamel unicorn which was my main focus for this cluster. I added some puffy stars and hearts to finish of the cluster.

The second cluster to the left of the photo got much of the same treatment, as well as some added chipboard elements.

To finish off the layout I built my title. It says 'Be the Unicorn in the field of Horses' - which I think is a great sentiment around being our crazy selves. I finished off this page my splattering Heidi Swapp Colourshine and Dylusions Ink all over the place.

The second layout I'm sharing with you today is using the same collection, as well as one other sheet of paper from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection. This layout is from my nieces 21st birthday party, so really worked with the fun, celebratory themes of the Carousel collection.

I started this layout with some plain white cardstock from Kaisercraft, and used the Chasing Dreams paper on the bottom third of the page. The photo is matted with a couple of pieces from the Carousel paper pad. The embellishments are a mixture of ephemera and chipboard from the Carousel Collection.

The 'YAY' that I have used for the title comes from the ephemera pack, and tears apart like tickets, so I distressed the edges to accentuate this and used foam tape to lift them off the page.

This page was also finished off with some Gold Stars from the ephemera pack and some gold Heidi Swapp Colourshine.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layouts today. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with those you hold dear. Catch you in the New Year!

Big loves
Tam xo

New Card Kit!

Hello everybody! I’m so excited that Shop and Crop now has a card kit to add to the other fabulous kits. You can buy the kit as a one off, or get a subscription and get a discounted kit every month. (Next month's kit is already looking fabulous)
If you use the code DL5 when you order, you can get $5 off the purchase price.

I’ve been making cards with the kit and getting the instructions all done. Here’s a sneak peek of a couple of the cards that you’ll be able to make with the kit.

For today’s blog post I’ve also used the kit. Even after making 12 cards, I have so much beautiful paper left over, and I’ve barely made a dent in the Ephemera pack that was jam packed with Christmas goodies, so I'm going to keep going!

The only difference is that today's cards also use things from my stash at home. All the instructions for the kit cards use only what comes in the kit, so you don't need any special supplies.

Firstly, I used my watercolours to make this night sky background. I love Christmas cards with non traditional colours, and even though it doesn't snow in Australia, I think this would be the perfect card for my friend in England. The two snowflakes come from the Ephemera that was in the card kit, and so does the Merry Christmas sticker, which I mounted up on dimensional tape.

For this next card, I used a stamp that I had in my stash, and embossed the trees in gold.  I also used some gold paint to spatter the background. Some sequins from the kit and another of these great stickers completed the card.

I'm so excited about the release of the card kit, and I hope that lots of people take it up, and use it as an opportunity to get all their Christmas cards done. I've tried to include both different techniques as well as some ideas for quick and easy cards that can be mass produced. I don't know about you, but I always need lots of cards at Christmas. Making cards with the kit has got me off to a great start!

So, until next time, may your days be crafty, and your nights too!

Blessings,

Donna
